SOAP (noun)

a substance used with water for washing and cleaning, made of a compound of natural oils or fats with sodium hydroxide or another strong alkali, and typically having perfume and colouring added

If it doesn't have these things, it isn't soap!

Sodium Hydroxide (noun)

1. a strongly alkaline white deliquescent compound used in many industrial processes, e.g. the manufacture of soap and paper.

   
   

   Sodium Hydroxide is a chemical made from salt.  Once mixed with water it becomes Lye.

   "Soap without Lye is a lie!"

   Once Lye mixes with oil it saponifies, or becomes soap.

   The soap cures over a period of 3-4 weeks, and once that process is complete there is no lye left in the soap, and no water.

   
   

Essential Oils are natural oils from plants typically obtained by distillations and have the characteristics, and scents of the plant from which it is extracted.

Each oil has it's own properties, as it is absorbed by the skin, and through the sense of smell, and as such has it's own effect on the body's systems.

Essential Oils are 100% plant based.

Do not confuse Essential Oils with "Essential Oil Blends".

Fragrances are often listed on labels but name few specific ingredients. This lack of disclosure prevents consumers knowing the full list of ingredients in their products. Some chemicals used in making fragrances are linked to serious health problems however you have no way of knowing unless you know the ingredients.

Fragrances will also be known as perfume, parfum, essential oil blend, aroma.

Fragrance ingredients may be derived from petroleum, or natural raw ingredients, and can contain solvents, stabilisers, preservatives and dyes.

Fragrances are 100% man made and are synthetic

Many soaps are coloured with dyes, pigments, oxides and other chemical based colourants.

Plant Based Colourants are made using ground roots of plants, which are infused in oils.

We make our own infusions using Olive or Sunflower Oil as the base for the infusion.

Our soaps are also coloured using clays, and other plant extractions.

Our colourants are 100% plant based or natural.

The dangers of other colourants are significant, even food colourants.

The three most widely used colourants (Yellow 5, Yellow 5 and Red 40) contain compounds including benzidine, and 4-aminobiphenyl, both of which have been linked with cancer. Research is showing food dyes have associated problems in children including allergies, hyperactivity, learning impairments, and aggression.

Just because soap is labelled "natural" doesn't mean the ingredients are plant based.

There is no legal definition of what is required for the "natural" label.

Soap can contain aluminium, formaldehyde, butyl, ethyl, methyl, propyl parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, synthetic colourants, synthetic fragrances, toluene and many other substances.

Continual use of chemical loaded products will cause the body to store the chemicals in body fat. With enough build up of toxins in the body, illnesses including cancer can occur.

And as for micas and pigments - Yes, they create pretty colours, but do you know that the mining of them destroys our earth and is unsustainable?  But most importantly, are you aware that this extraction and supply of micas and pigments is derived using child and slave labour?  How pretty is that soap colour now?

Say no to all of these products - they add nothing to your soap or beauty cleansing regime, let alone our Earth!

Water

Collected from Mother Nature!  Our Rain Water is purified through triple filtration to remove particle contaminants, chemicals, pesticides, sprays and then treated with Ultraviolet to sterilise it.  It achieves save drinking water standards. 

Rain Water is soft, pure and free of heavy metals.

Sodium Hydroxide

Derived from Salt, when mixed with water becomes Lye.

If your soap doesn't contain Lye... its a lie!

Oils

Our soaps will have a combination of oils such as Sweet Almond, Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Avocado Oil, Hemp Oil, Calendula Oil and various other oils combined to make soap nourishing, creamy, skin and hair conditioning, and for their cleansing and lathering properties.

Vitamin E

Our soaps contain Vitamin E to stabilise and to act as a preservative of the oils. It prevents oils turning rancid.

Sodium Lactate

It is produced by fermentation of a sugar source such as beets and neutralised to form a lactic acid. It is the sodium salt of the lactic acid. 

It is an effective humectant and moisturiser and helps to produce a hard bar of soap. With our soaps so laden with skin nourishing oils, without Sodium Lactate they would dissolve quickly once wet.

Essential Oils

100% plant based essential oils provide the beautiful scents our soaps have.

We combine these to give our soaps beneficial properties to enhance Mind Body & Spirit.

Clays, Infusions, Plant Colourants

We use a variety of methods to produce our beautiful colours, but only plant based! We use plants that we infuse in oils, natural clays, and other plant colourants.
